WiFi for Students - Connecting Gadgets
Before You Start
What is the Gadget Network?
Clark's Gadget network is used to connect devices that cannot use a browser to register with the campus network. Examples include:
- Gaming systems – Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch
- Smart hubs – Amazon Echo / Dot / Show, Apple HomePod, Google Home
- Smart accessories – Wyze, Wemo, Hue
- TV streaming devices – Apple TV, Chromecast, Fire Stick
Note: These instructions should not be used for desktops, laptops, phones, or tablets.
Locate Your MAC Address
Before registering your device, locate the MAC address. This is often printed on the device itself or on the device packaging.
A MAC address is a 12-digit number displayed in pairs separated by colons or dashes. Example: 2E:CC:88:41:A1:B6
Warning: Do not use the device’s Bluetooth address when registering your gadget.
Instructions
Register Your Device
- Navigate to the device registration page: https://cppm.clarku.edu/guest
- You will see a list of all your registered devices.
- Click Create.
- Fill in the required information.
- Make sure the device name is descriptive.
- Click Create.
- You will receive an 8-letter network password.
- Save this password somewhere secure.
- You will not be able to retrieve this password later.
- This password is only used for connecting your gadget to the network.
Complete Setup
- Connect your device to the ClarkGadgetWiFi network.
- Each device is different, so refer to the device documentation for instructions on entering the network password and completing the connection.
Troubleshooting
Reset Gadget Network Password
If you forget or lose your gadget’s network password, follow the steps below to generate a new one.
- Go to the registration page: https://cppm.clarku.edu/guest
- Select the correct gadget from your list of registered devices.
- Click Edit.
- Select the option to generate a new device password.
- Click Update Device.
- A new 8-letter password will be generated.
- Save the new password securely.
- This password cannot be retrieved later.
- Update the WiFi password on your gadget following the device's instructions.
